HM
Gunboat William 1795 (1:32): |
Model designed entirely in-house by Rich, Dave and John.
HM Gunboat William (1:32) as fitted in 1795. Her armament includes 2 x 12pdr
carronades (aft) and 1 x 24pdr cannon (fore) mounted on a bearing race of
cannon balls.
Keel and bulkhead assembly, notice also the bearding line in red. |
|
The temporary supports provided in the kit. These supports are fitted to protect the delicate walnut stem and stern extensions while the model is turned upside down for planking the hull. It should be noted that, although not shown in the remaining pictures, these supports should remain in place until completion of both the first and second hull planking. |
|
Termination of planking at the bows, outer view. |
|
Termination of planking at the bows, inner view. Note that the 'notch' in the termination patterns face outboard to facilitate their removal above this point upon completion of the planking. |
|
Termination of first planking at the stern. Note that the ply cross member is positioned to the bottom while the walnut cross member, which will be visible on the completed model, is positioned to the top. |
|
Note, due to the hull shape, when planked there will be a noticeable gap either side of the transom, this is correct and should be filled with planking upon completion. |
