| The capstan, as with most capstans on ships of this size it spans two decks. The lower picture is a good illustration of how the upper and lower capstans were fitted with different quantities of whelps and bar holes. |
The lower half of the capstan fitted together with bars constructed from 1.5x1.5mm walnut. The central dowel of the upper half of the capstan will pass through the quarterdeck and butt up to the central dowel of this capstan, simulating a one piece assembly. |
The Fore riding bitts fitted around the fore mast partners. These are extremely large because, when the ship was riding at anchor, the strain of holding the cables was taken up by these bitts. |
The galley stove, complete with condenser and chimney. The chimney is shown here for illustration only, it will be removed until the quarterdeck is in place and be re-fitted forward of the steam grating through the quarterdeck. |
The hull side profile and three-quarter bow view, completed to quarterdeck level. |
View of the completed gun deck with the quarterdeck support beams in place. |
