(1:64) |
| The cabin assembly complete with panel detailing. The athwartships 'bulkheads' are cut in two overlapping halves to allow a perfect fit after minor shaping of the outboard ends to the bulwark profile. |
The completed cabin assembly in place, notice that the foremost 'bulkhead' is fitted with windows to assist ventilation while the aftermost 'bulkhead' is not. Ventilation for the main captain's cabin was by way of the stern windows. Having a solid forward bulkhead, to the captain's cabin at least gave the illusion that a private conversation could be had. |
The panel detailing is also visible on the after face of the bulkheads. The vertical lines running the full height of the 'bulkhead' denote joins between the panels. In reality, each 'bulkhead' was assembled from several small panels, this made their removal and stowage in preparation for battle much easier. |
The quarterdeck support beams in place. |
Plan view of the cabins. The main or 'great' cabin is to the stern with the small captain's sleeping quarters to the starboard and the coach, through which the mizzen mast passes, to the port. |
The cabin doors which can be shown open or closed. As with the 'bulkheads', only the foremost doors are fitted with windows. |
